DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Mining Commission, in collaboration with institutions under the Ministry of Minerals, is showcasing the country’s vast mineral wealth and investment opportunities at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), widely known as the Sabasaba Trade Fair.

The annual event, taking place at the Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Dar es Salaam, has attracted about 3,900 local exhibitors and more than 400 international companies from 23 countries. Organisers expect over 600,000 visitors during the exhibition, which runs until July 13, 2026.

The Mining Commission is among the key government institutions participating in the prestigious trade fair, where it is promoting Tanzania’s growing mining sector and the wide range of investment opportunities available across the mineral value chain.

At the Ministry of Minerals pavilion, the Commission is highlighting opportunities in mineral exploration, mining, mineral processing, beneficiation and mineral trade, while showcasing the country’s efforts to position itself as a regional hub for sustainable mineral development and value addition.

Visitors are also being introduced to government initiatives aimed at expanding downstream mineral industries to increase the mining sector’s contribution to economic growth, industrialisation and job creation.

In addition, the Commission is promoting greater participation of Tanzanians in the mining industry through the implementation of the Local Content Guidelines, which seek to enhance local ownership, employment opportunities, technology transfer and skills development across the sector.

Officials said strengthening local participation remains a top priority to ensure Tanzanians derive greater socio-economic benefits from the country’s abundant mineral resources while supporting the sustainable growth of the mining industry.

The exhibition also provides investors, entrepreneurs, students and members of the public with an opportunity to engage directly with experts from the Ministry of Minerals and the Mining Commission, obtain information on investment opportunities, mineral trading procedures, value addition initiatives and government programmes designed to accelerate the sector’s development.

Members of the public have been encouraged to visit the Ministry of Minerals pavilion to learn more about Tanzania’s mineral potential and the government’s ongoing efforts to transform the mining sector into a major driver of national economic development.
