“Judicial independence carries a profound responsibility to safeguard citizens’ rights and must be exercised with transparency, integrity, and full compliance with the Constitution and laws” Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi.
DODOMA: The Vice President of Tanzania, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has called on judges and magistrates across the country to perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to the Constitution and national laws.
Dr. Nchimbi delivered the remarks today, February 2, 2026, in Dodoma, while representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the national Law Day celebrations.
He underscored that although the judiciary is constitutionally independent in executing its functions, this independence must not serve as a shield for negligence, favoritism, or any actions that undermine the principles of justice.

The Vice President further emphasized that judicial independence carries a profound responsibility to safeguard citizens’ rights and must be exercised with transparency, integrity, and full compliance with the Constitution and laws.
Upholding these standards, he noted, will strengthen public trust in this essential branch of government.
