Eng. Samamba expressed to have been satisfied with the pace of revenue collections by the MROs, urged them to maintain the impressive record.
THE Permanent Secretary of the ministry of minerals, Eng. Yahya Samamba has directed the regional mineral officers (RMOs) to strengthen a pace in supervision of environmental security in the country’s mining areas, especially in the current period ahead of the rainy season.
The PS issued the helpful directives during his special audience with the management team of the Tanzania Mining Commission (TMC) which convened in the Dar es Salaam Business Capital on Thursday.

In attendence during the timely meeting were the Chairperson of Commission, Ms. Janet Lekashingo, Acting Executive Secretary, Eng. Ramadhani Lwamo, Directors, Managers, as well as the regional mining officers.
Speaking at the meeting, Eng Samamba directed the RMOs to make an effective and professional inspections of the mining sites available in their respective regions so as to plug loop holes for occurance of unnecessary accidents during the rain season.
“In further directives, Eng. Samamba ordered the officers to halt operations at all mining sites that will be detected to have running operations in discordant of the set regulations and standards in order to curtail possible hazards.
Apart from the directives, Eng Samamba expressed to have been satisfied with the pace of revenue collections by the MROs, urged them to maintain impressive record.
“During the first phase of 2024/25 fiscal year the trend in the revenue collections in the mining sector has stabilized to the far tune of fetching a total of 395bn/-, being a result of your matured working spirit,” he congratulated the officers.
However, he challenged the officers to become more active and creative in order to ensure the sector injects more revenues to the state coffer.
He observed that the global minerals market is currently experiencing dwindling in the price of gold, alerting the officers to stand vigilant in their daily executions.
Eng. Samamba also spoke over the need for the officers to venture into a crucial program to create awareness towards the relevant stakeholders to chip in and invest into numerous economic niches that are available for investing in the sector.
Together with that, he asked them to continue closely supervising the employees under them, insisting and that the parent ministry will continue to solve diverse challenges that thwarting the sector, including low availability of working facilities, among others.
