CRJE (East Africa) Limited To Complete Construction Of NIT’s New Structures in November

THE Chinese firm, CRJE (East Africa) Limited, is expecting to finalize the project for the construction of a new structures at the National Institute of Transport (NIT)’s Headquarters in Dar es Salaam by November, this year.

In the ongoing project at the state- owned institute entails erection of two buildings, worth at 10.8bn/-, being fund from World Bank (WB) through Eastern Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP).

The fund, aims at sustaining the Institute’s Regional Flagship TVET Center of Excellence in Aviation and Transport Operations (CoEATO).

Speaking in an interview at the site in Dar es Salaam yesterday, CRJE (East Africa) Limited Site Agent Dai Yanwei said: “We are in a massive speed working day and night to ensure that the project is to be completed in November this year. We are in the final touches of fixing doors, windows, etc.”

He added, if all goes well, the company will hand over the project to NIT in November.

NIT has in November 2022 entered a one-year agreement with CRJE (East Africa) Ltd to construct two buildings at the Institute’s main campus, Mabibo in Dar es Salaam.

“We were expected to finish this project one year after the signing but faced challenges after the commencement. Heavy rains in 2023 and delayed payments interrupted the project to be completed as stipulated in the contract,” Mr Yanwei said.
