DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania’s national carrier, Air Tanzania Corporation Limited (ATCL), has officially inaugurated direct flights between Dar es Salaam and Accra, Ghana.
The service will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Speaking at the launch event in Dar es Salaam, Minister of Transport Professor Makame Mbarawa highlighted that the new route will unlock economic opportunities and ease travel, particularly in preparation for the AFCON 2027 tournament.

“This is a historic milestone. After 10 to 15 years of challenges, our airline is now expanding into West Africa,” Prof Mwarawa expressed.
He noted, previously, travelers, including Tanzanians heading to Accra, had to connect through the Arab Emirates or Turkey before reaching West Africa.
On his side, the ATCL’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Peter Ulanga said that the addition of the Accra route expands ATCL’s network from 24 to 32 destinations, extending its reach both within Africa and beyond.
