DAR ES SALAAM: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, through the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS), has contributed 27.9bn/- in dividends to the Government Consolidated Fund for the 2025/26 financial year, marking an increase from 26.1bn/- remitted last year.
The dividend was presented on Tuesday during a ceremony at State House in Dar es Salaam, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan officiated and received dividends and contributions from various public institutions.
The increased dividend reflects TFS’s improved financial performance, driven by strengthened management and the sustainable utilisation of the country’s forest resources.
It also highlights the agency’s growing role in boosting government revenue, supporting the national economy and financing key development programmes that benefit Tanzanians.
During the event, TFS was recognised among the country’s top-performing public institutions for consistently remitting dividends on time and at sustainable levels. The recognition was based on the agency’s performance over the past seven years.
On average, TFS has contributed 23.5bn/- annually to the Government Consolidated Fund, underscoring its consistent contribution to public finances.
The achievement further reinforces TFS’s position as one of Tanzania’s leading revenue-generating public agencies through prudent forest management, sustainable resource utilisation and effective execution of its conservation and development mandate.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Hassan Abbas, alongside heads of public institutions and other government leaders.
