DAR ES SALAAM: On April 8, 2026, Tanzania will witness launching of a major national strategy designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the use of public resources.
Dubbed ‘National Supply Chain Management Policy” the timely initiative will be inaugurated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre.
According to Mr. Alex Haraba, Acting Commissioner for Public Procurement Policy at the Ministry of Finance, the policy establishes a comprehensive framework to oversee all public sector supply chain activities—from needs assessment and procurement to storage, distribution, and asset disposal.
It aims to address long-standing gaps caused by the absence of a unified national guideline.
The Ministry of Finance highlighted that the policy also prioritizes digitalization, encourages greater private sector involvement, and promotes the inclusion of special social groups—measures.
