In his presentation titled “Planning for Tanzania’s Future: The Role of Rural Development Planning in Achieving Tanzania Development Vision 2050,” Dr. Chaya emphasized the crucial responsibility of youth in realizing Vision 2050.

“This institution stands as one of the key area in helping the nation achieve its national development vision,”he stated.

He expressed that the execution of the long-term economic blueprint will involve significant investments in rural areas, which offer ample land and are home to a large portion of Tanzania’s population.

“Your teaching and learning in various fields of rural development planning mean you are poised to play a significant role in implementing this vision,” he added.

Dr. Chaya further explained that the government is strengthening the human capital development sector by empowering higher learning institutions to cultivate skilled professionals.

“The vision aims to elevate Tanzania’s annual GDP to USD 1 trillion, with per capita income reaching an average of USD 7,000,” he noted.

To attain these targets, he stressed the essential involvement of the youth and the private sector, which is expected to contribute at least 70 percent of GDP.

“Ensure you obtain a copy of Vision 2050, study it thoroughly, and identify where you can contribute to its implementation,” he urged attendees.

Dr. Chaya commended IRDP for organizing the forum and encouraged other institutions across the country to follow this patriotic example.

In response, IRDP Rector Prof. Hozen Mayaya expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the workshop.

He stated that the college organized the event to orient its staff and students toward the upcoming development agenda.

“We are deeply grateful for the positive response from Dr. Chaya and his commitment to educating us on Vision 2050 implementation,” Prof. Mayaya said.

He assured that the state-owned college will continue to develop and deliver relevant programs aligned with the government’s economic vision.

Prof. Mayaya also praised the government for its ongoing support in enhancing infrastructure and training facilities at the college, located on the outskirts of the capital city.
