In Dodoma Capital City, the TACTIC project, now in its Tier One, is working to upgrade Majengo Market, Kizota Minibus Stand, and to construct Nzuguni Minibus Stand and Chaduru, Mailimbili and Ntyuka footbridges.
DODOMA. APART from hailing the Sixth Phase Government to source and inject over 38bn/- to facilitate implementation of a robust project for the facelifting of key infrastructure across Dodoma Capital City, Ms. Rosemary Senyamule, Dodoma Regional Commissioner has expressed to have been impressed with the pace and quality in the implementation of the project.
Dubbed “Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness,” (TACTIC) the timely project is funded by World Bank (WB) through the International Development Association (IDA).
In it’s full scope, the projects aims to strengthen urban management, deliver improved infrastructure and services in 45 urban Local Government Authorities (LGAs) across Tanzania, with a focus on rehabilitation and expansion of urban infrastructure and institutional capacity building.
In Dodoma Capital City, the TACTIC project, now in its Tier One, is working to upgrade Majengo Market, Kizota Minibus Stand, and to construct Nzuguni Minibus Stand and Chaduru, Mailimbili and Ntyuka footbridges.
Contract signing for the project was entered in 6th February 2025, whereby in Dodoma Capital City the project is erected by the Azhar Construction Co.Ltd, together with the other three construction companies, namely Hong-IK Engineering Consultants Co. Ltd, Gaugepro Consultant Ltd, as well as G and Y Engineering Consult PLC.
Recently, Dodoma Regional Commissioner (RC), Ms. Rosemary Senyamule visited the progression of the project, whereby she expressed to have been satisfied.

“I have seen that the road projects are going well, in terms of the market, yes, I see that there is a delay which is not good because the delay creates congestion considering that this is in the middle of the city,” Ms. Senyamule said.
She directed the Director of Dodoma City Council to dispatch to her a special report over the implementation of the robust project.
Ms. Senyamule also directed the involved contractors to ensure the projects are finalized on framed time and quality.
In concluding her visit, RC Senyamule spoke over the need for tree planting campaign in all areas along road infrastructures across the Capital City.
Currently, the traders at the Majengo market have been moved to execute their tradings at the temporary shelters nearby the area in order to pave way for the major overhaul of the market.
According to the coordinator of TACTIC project in Dodoma, Eng Kileo Nicodemus out of the 38bn/- , at least 4.8bn/- is being used to improve infrastructures at Majengo market, which includes installation of new roof and professional system for clean and safe water as well as sewage system.
“A total of 1.9bn/- has been set aside to support construction of modern minibus stand at the market,” Eng Nicodemus informed.
“Construction and improvement of the markets will consider installation of key facilities including safe water and electricity, office structures, modern equipment for waste solid and liquid material management, as well as construction of state-of-the-art trader’s pavilions,” he unveiled.
He said implementation of the project surfaces after a great work to have been accomplished during the project’s first phase, the development which saw professional improvement of storm water drainages and parts of roads stretches in the city.
“After completion of the current phase, we’re looking forward to embark on implementation of tier three ( phase three), through which were mulling to facelift more markets, including the Sabasaba and Mkonze and Miyuji markets, among others,” he briefed.
Through the TACTIC project, the World Bank (WB), has rolled out a total of USD 360m to support implementation of the grand project across the mentioned 45 city councils in Tanzania.

WB has decided to inject the country with the lucrative funds to support improvement of key infrastructures within the cities after being satisfied with the good manner, as well as value for money, demonstrated by the country during implementation of different prior WB’s project in Tanzania.
The prior project that was implemented under WB funds in the country include the Urban Local Government Strengthening Program (ULGSP), Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP) as well as the Tanzania Strategic Cities Project (TSCP) which was executed during 2011-2020, through funds from the World Bank (IDA Credit) and a grant from the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark.
