DAR ES SALAAM: THE Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians (CAFP) is in Tanzania to strengthen a long-standing and mutually bilateral cooperation between Tanzania and Canada.
As part of their schedule in Tanzania, the visitors have convened a short audience with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Ngwaru Maghembe.
During the talks, Dr Maghembe commended Canada for its continued support in the health, education, agriculture, and community development sectors.
He observed that the contribution that Tanzania has been receiving from Ottawa has significantly supported the country’s social and economic development.
Minister Maghembe briefed the visitors that Tanzania, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, is working to promote a shift from aid dependency toward trade-driven partnerships.
Moreover, he said the country continues to value development assistance and concessional loans aimed at building self-reliance and shared prosperity.

On her part, the delegation leader, Yasmin Ratansi, praised Tanzania’s infrastructure development, particularly the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved.
The delegation also participated in a luncheon meeting organized by Mr. John Ulanga in collaboration with the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA).
The meeting attracted stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including representatives from business, investment, and industrial organizations.
Through this engagement, the Canadian delegation gained insight into Tanzania’s diplomatic and economic priorities, as well as ongoing efforts to position the country as a strategic hub for trade and investment in the East African region.
