DAR ES SALAAM: The Director General of the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Dr Amos Nungu, has said that the institution’s 40th anniversary is more than a celebration of its history—it is an opportunity to shape Tanzania’s future through science, technology and innovation (STI).

Speaking in Dar es Salaam during the launch of the National Information System for Science, Technology and Innovation (NISSTI), Dr Nungu said Tanzania’s Vision 2050 will be anchored on knowledge, innovation and technological advancement.

Dr Nungu further emphasized that increased investment in science, technology and innovation will strengthen Tanzania’s global competitiveness and position the country as a regional leader in digital transformation and innovation across East Africa and beyond.

“The NISSTI platform will serve as a shared hub for knowledge, opportunities and collaboration. We want every researcher, innovator and institution to be visible, connected and able to access opportunities through this system,” he said.
