TRA Urges Traders In Farming, Livestock Sectors To Timely Dispatch Documents When Importing Facilities

THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) had appealed to traders in the agricultural and livestock sectors to timely remmitt to it relevant documents when importing implements that have been given tax exemption by the government.
Speaking at the ongoing 31st Tanzania Agricultural International Expo which is taking shape in Dodoma Capital City, Mr. Filipo Eliamini, the TRA’s Senior Tax Monitoring Officer said the development will place the authority in a better side perform it duties on proper time.
He expressed, in order to propel smooth metamorphosis of the two economic sectors, the government through its annual tax regulations adjustments system, during the 2024/25 fiscal year has lifted tax imposition towards importation of numerous farming and fishing implements.
The facilities, according to him include power tillers, tractors, fertilizers, and other agro- inputs, added that in the livestock sector the facilities that have can now be imported taxless include fishing equipment and those based on cold rooms, among others.
Moreover, Mr Eliamini added that the facilities for the refining of sunflower edible oil and honey processing have also been waived tax imposition when imported.
“The government has decided to scrap taxes towards importation of the said implements but it is vital for the relevant traders and farmers to dispatch to us the relevant importation documents as soon as they order the facilities instead of waiting for the cargos to arrive in the country,” he observed.
He urged the stakeholders in the two sectors of agriculture and livestock to visit at the TRA pavilion to learn different issues, as well as getting services.
“For instance, through visiting our pavilion, the farmers will stand a chance to understand the types of farming implements which can now be imported taxless,” he said.
Moreover, he added that the farmers and the livestock keepers in the country who are engaging into various agribusinesses are supposed to pay their statutory taxes as set by the government.
“Among the key service that we’re rolling out through this meaningful expo is tax estimation services towards the traders,”he added, urged the traders who fall under the tax -paying category to go for the service.
And, he added that among the services being rolled out by the TRA in the exhibitions incorporating issuance and education on electronic fiscal devices (EFD).
“Regulations recquires all traders with the annual transaction volume of at least 11m/- must use EFD, so it is prudent for the relevant traders who have yet to possess the devices to visit our pavilion in order to procure the facility,” he added.
Issuance trade identification number (TIN) is another service that Mr Eliamini informed that the country’s state- owned taxes watching dog is providing in the exhibition.
“The regulations as set by the government recquires all citizens of Tanzania who are above 18 years of age to possess TIN number, so this exhibition provides meaningful podium for those who do not have to register for the same,” he insisted.
And, he added that among the services being rolled out by the TRA in the exhibitions incorporating issuance and education on electronic fiscal devices (EFD).
He observed that TRA was also using the eight- day exhibition to foster good reletions with it esteemed customers, the development which will automatically bolster service delivery.
