Tanzania Selects Seven Hospitals To Push For Medical Tourism Initiative

TANZANIA has ventured into a robust investment meant to propel medical tourism in the country.
Through the timely initiative, at least seven local hospitals have been picked to implement the relevant projects, the Parliament was told this week.
The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Godwin Mollel, told the Parliament this week that, among the selected health facilities, two were private medical facilities which include the Agakhan hospital and Saifee Hospital Tanzania.
He unveiled the vital development in the country’s heath corridor as he was responding to a question filed by Moshi Rural lawmaker, Professor Patrick Ndakidemi who wanted to know what the government was doing to introduce and boost medical tourism in the country.
“The government has decided to invested highly in procurement of medical equipment as well as improving medical services at different referral hospitals, what is the plan in place to strengthen medical tourism?” asked the Member of Parliament.
