DAR ES SALAAM. TANZANIA continues to curve own successive niche in the world tourism platform after once again winning a prestigious global award in the safari tourism category for the second consecutive year.
The impressive record makes Tanzania to be recognized as the world’s best country for safari tourism.
This victory further stabilizes Tanzania’s position on the global map as one of the most unique and attractive tourism destinations.
The award, which is one of the most prestigious in the tourism sector, has been attained through concerted efforts by the government of Tanzania to protect national resources, strengthen conservation, and promote tourism attractions.
The government has been implementing a series of strategies meant to increase the number of tourists and attract more investors to the key economic sector.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi, thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her major contribution to the growth of tourism.

He highlighted Royal Tour and Amazing Tanzania films as among the key tools that have helped promote the country and attract visitors from different nations.
Dr Abbasi stated that the award reflects Tanzania’s effective conservation of wildlife and the environment, which has made the country a leading global attraction.
He also announced that Tanzania will host next year’s global tourism awards, an event which will bring major tourism organisations and stakeholders from around the world to the country.
Dr Abbasi expressed that the tourism sector has continued to grow rapidly since the decline of the COVID-19 pandemic, with tourist numbers increasing from 600,000 to over 2.1 million last year.
This growth has been driven by joint efforts between the government and the private sector in promoting and improving the country’s attractions.
On his part, the Director General of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Mr. Ephraim Mafuru, thanked all tourism stakeholders for their support, which helped Tanzania secure this important award.
He noted that the victory demonstrates global recognition of the quality of Tanzania’s attractions, especially Serengeti National Park, which was named the World’s Best National Park.
Mr. Mafuru insisted that the achievements reflect the significant work done by the Sixth Phase Government in improving tourism infrastructure, including road construction within protected areas and conservation of game reserves.
Together with that, he urged the Tanzanians to participate actively in advancing tourism and conservation, stressing that the tourism sector contributes greatly to the national economy and continues to position Tanzania as a leading safari destination globally.
