The funds form part of a larger 18.6bn/- budget approved for the 2025/26 financial year dedicated to road infrastructure in Dodoma.
DODOMA: THE Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) in the Dodoma region has received 15.6bn/- from the Roads Fund Board to support road maintenance in the fast-growing capital city.
This allocation represents a significant boost to ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade the regional road network.
The funds form part of a larger 18.6bn/- budget approved for the 2025/26 financial year dedicated to road infrastructure in Dodoma.
The development has been revealed by the Acting TANROADS Regional Manager for Dodoma, Eng. Colman Ramadhani, during a recent inspection of the 140.6 km Dodoma–Mtera road conducted by the Roads Fund Board.
The visit was part of routine monitoring to assess the progress of maintenance works and funded projects.

Speaking during the inspection, Eng. Ramadhani stated that the disbursed funds have already enabled TANROADS to continue maintenance activities across the region.
He emphasized that the timely release has accelerated the pace of project implementation under the approved annual budget.
“Maintenance works are currently underway on 1,707.2 kilometres of roads and 320 bridges, with 42 contracts already signed for various maintenance activities,” said Eng. Ramadhani.
He expressed TANROADS’ commitment to utilizing all Roads Fund allocations efficiently to improve road conditions and ensure safe, reliable travel for the public.
Eng. Ramadhani also addressed some challenges facing the road network. He noted that the Dodoma–Mtera road, for instance, is experiencing increased traffic from heavy cargo trucks transporting agricultural products and minerals.
This growing load has accelerated wear and tear on the road surface, raising maintenance costs.
Seasonal rains and flooding pose another significant challenge, particularly in the Manzase area, where water sometimes overflows the road embankment.
This can disrupt transport for three to six hours at a time due to safety concerns.
The one-day inspection was led by the Roads Fund Board Chairperson, Eng. Mussa Natty, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Roads Fund, Eng. Rashid Kalimbaga—who also serves as President of the African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA)—alongside other board members.
The exercise aimed to evaluate the progress of maintenance works, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that Roads Fund projects are executed efficiently and meet required quality standards.
In conclusion, Eng. Ramadhani assured the public that TANROADS Dodoma remains dedicated to optimizing the use of Roads Fund allocations to maintain and enhance the region’s road network, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable road transport for all users.
