DAR ES SALAAM. THE series of demonstrations, civil unrest and killings experienced in Tanzania during the October’s 29 General Election day was allegedly planned, coordinated and financed by outsiders.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan, said the events were incited in cooperation with some unscrupulous Tanzanians in the country.
The Head of State expressed dismay following break out of the unwise chaos through which the long- standing Tanzania’s reputation of being the global hub of peace, unity and solidarity is now being tarnished.
Addressing the elders of Dar es Salaam city this afternoon (December 2nd, Tuesday 2025) at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), President Samia asked the Tanzanians to come back to their full senses, upholding national solidarity in order to heal the nation’s bad wounds caused by chaos, thus proceeding with key works to develop the country’s economy.
She insisted, was happened was not ordinary but was a well planned project implemented with an eye of attempting to overthrow the government.
“The unrest was part of “a broad project with malicious intent,” involving people from various groups some fully aware behind the mission, others not, some following the crowd, and there were others who received money without understanding the intention behind what they were instructed to do,” she expressed.

She noted, the chaos was a framed event, carefully planned with the intention to bring down the Sixth -Phase Government.
President Samia explained that the unrest caused extensive damage, including the set ablaze of government structures, destruction of public projects, burning of fuel stations and private businesses, torching of government vehicles, and the destruction of numerous police stations.
“So should we call that a right demonstration or outright violence?” she questioned, emphasizing the gravity of the destruction.
Furthermore, she criticized those who are blaming the Government for using huge force to pacify the unrest, saying the applied force was equivalent to the nature of the massive chaos.
President Samia said the Government had vowed, and is mandated to protect the country and its borders, as well as safeguarding citizens and their property.
Similar unrest several times occurs in other nations, whereby the relevant Governments are using huge power to control, and we, Tanzania has never pointed out an accusing finger to any nation,”
” Why are they blaming and criticizing us if they’re not the ones who stood behind what happened in our land?,” she questioned.
She insisted that the measures taken by the Government to control the unrest were aimed at restoring and maintaining national security.
The unrest began in Tanzania on 29 October 2025 amid the country’s 2025 general election.
