FDH To Implement 40m/- Worth Project On Leadership Towards Young Women With Disabilities In Kondoa District

The project is implemented with a key mission to empower young women with disabilities to seize leadership opportunities in their community

Abilis Foundation, a Finnish Non-Governmental Organisation that grants project funding to organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), has rolled out over 40m/- to support a project to impart young women with disabilities in Kondoa district with key leadership skills.

A one- year project which will be implemented by Dodoma- based Foundation for Disabilities Hope (FDH) targets to propel democracy in the district, among others.

The Director General (DG) of FDH, Mr Michael Salali said the envisaged project will impact a total of 300 people with different forms of disabilities in the district.

Mr Salali unveiled the helpful plan at a brief meeting to introduce the project at the office of Dodoma Regional Commissioner.

He said the project is implemented with a key mission to empower young women with disabilities to seize leadership opportunities in their community and overcome the habit of rejecting themselves.

The training we’re going to provide will help to enable the physically challenged citizens in Kondoa to deter from discriminating and underating themselves and thus, starting to stand confidently at grabbing diverse leadership opportunities” he said.

Apart from dealing with leadership issues, he said the project has also been designed in the positive manner to assist the targeted group to take part and benefit from different entrepreneurship opportunities.

” I am very happy that today I introduced the project to  key officers at the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s officer, ahead of its official implementation,” he said.

He expressed delight for the patriotic manner to which the government in the region has demonstrated high commitment to support the implementation of the project.

“We are going to work in close cooperation with local government leaders at all levels in the district to ensure the project is implemented in the best way so as to fetch the needed outcome,” he assured.

He detailed, apart from reaching out to the intended 300 beneficiaries, the initiative will make use of local radio stations and various public meetings in order to meet a wider population.

Foundation for Disabilities Hope (FDH) is a Non-Governmental Organization dealing with issues of Advocacy for the rights and equality of groups of people with disabilities, youth and children. This institution was officially registered in 2019 and obtained National Registration under Act No. 00NGO/R/004.
