EWURA Urges Fuel Stations Owners In Shinyanga Region To Extend Safe Cooking Energy In Rural Areas

THE Energy and Water Utilities Authority (EWURA) in the western zone has challenged the fuel stations owners to extend services into rural areas to supplement efforts by President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan to curtail use of unfriendly environmental cooking power in the areas.

The advice has been raised by the EWURA’s Western Zone Manager, Eng. Walter Christopher during a one – day meeting, pitting the stakeholders in the fuel sector within Kahama district, Shinyanga region.

The Manager said the Government was implementing a ‘no-nonsense strategy ‘ to propel the use of clean cooking gas in rural areas focusing on protecting human health, as well as environmental conservation.

Use of clean cooking energies has emerged a global key agenda with an eye to cheat climate change, environmental pollution and safeguarding human health.Please play part to  assist accelerating the availability of the safe power in rural areas,” he said.

 

For his side, the chairperson of the Tanzania Petrol Station Operators Association (TAPSOA) in Shinyanga region, Mr Alley Abeid Salum hailed EWURA for imparting the  useful education towards the petrol stations proprietors in the region, saying the development will help to advance the vital economic sector into new heights.
