Eight Nations To Partake In 7th Edition Of Geita Mining And Technology International Exhibition

THE 7th edition of Geita Mining and Technology Exhibition is expecting to attract the relevant stakeholders from at least eight different nations.

The nations include China, India, South Africa, Burundi, Rwanda, Congo, Uganda and neighboring Kenya.

This time around, the annually- staged economic gala has been scheduled to take shape for ten executive days October 2nd to 13th 2024 in the county’s mineral hub region of Geita, to attract 600 participants.

The participants include giant and small mining companies, small scale miners, as well as others engaging into diverse chain in the economic prestigious sector across the country.

The Geita Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Mr Mohamed Gombati said the government in the region has prepared professional to ensure the exhibition is handled in the mature manner so as to bring about needed positive outcomes.

He was speaking to this publication over the preparations of the crucial crow- puller event.

This exhibition is projected to create a crucial podium for the local minerals stakeholders, especially the small-scale miners and companies to adopt new modern technologies, necessary to assisting them to heighten their performance and standards,” he said.

Moreover, Mr Gombati informed that as per the event’s schedule, the ten-day exhibition will incorporate a series of activities, including staging of special mineral tourism day, special day for the involved financial institutions, insurance firms, and as special day for the social security funds.

“The event will also see a special day for the Geita indigenous ‘Wana wa Geita’ and a special day to delve on the local content in Tanzania’s mining sector,” he expressed.

Being coordinated by the ministry of minerals in sync with the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), Gombati said the exhibition will also help to the participants to learn and practice how best to translate into reality the President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s economic philosophy of 4 Rs (Reconciliation, Reconciliation, reform and rebuilding).

For his part, the chairman of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA) for Geita region,  Eng Gabriel Robert challenged the large and small scale traders from Geita and from others parts within the country to take part in the key business gala.

Apart to create a number of useful economic niches, he observed: “The event will open a wider knowledge gap among the traders, not only those in mining industries, but in the whole business sector in Tanzania,”

He said the event is expected to bring the country’s business attention in the region, hence unlocking potential business opportunities for all traders to exchange key business ideas, market linkages as well as huge transactions.

“For instance, the exhibition will provide an opportunity for the food vendors, and other petty traders to market their products,” he added.

The Coordinator of the exhibition, Mr Charles Chacha, the Assistant Regional Secretary (Industries, Trade and Investment) unveiled that this year’s edition has been greeted by an increased number of the participants, compared to the previous ones.

Dr Doto Mashaka Biteko, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy is expecting to grace the official opening of the exhibition which will climax on 13th October 2024.
