DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA will today begin hosting the Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (ACSAM), a major continental gathering of agricultural experts and stakeholders.
Jointly organized by Tanzania’s Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the forum will coincide with the launch of the country’s second-phase National Agricultural Mechanization Strategy.
The three-day conference is scheduled for February 3–6, 2026, in Dar es Salaam with an eye to deliberate on practical solutions, strategy development, and partnerships to address African farmers’ needs and accelerate agri-food transformation.
Briefing the media ahead of the event, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC) Mr. Albert Chalamila said the conference will provide an opportunity for African countries to share experiences, strengthen regional cooperation, and accelerate the adoption of modern agricultural tools and technologies.

“The initiative aims to drive sustainable transformation of the agricultural sector in Tanzania and across the African continent,” Mr. Chalamila noted.
He added that during the conference, Prime Minister Dr. Mwiguli Nchemba will officially launch the National Agricultural Mechanization Strategy, Phase Two, which will serve as a key framework for boosting agricultural productivity and efficiency through modern technologies.
The conference is expected to attract various agricultural experts and stakeholders from within and outside the country.
