DODOMA. BENJAMIN Mkapa Hospital (BMH) has formalized a strategic partnership with Afya Check Foundation, heralding a concerted initiative to deploy specialized medical outreach camps throughout neighboring countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ratified in Dodoma, the nation’s capital, is designed to elevate BMH’s medical tourism offerings, broaden its outreach capacity, and galvanize financial support from diverse stakeholders to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved populations.
At the signing ceremony, Acting Executive Director of BMH, Dr. Henry Humba, underscored the transformative potential of this alliance in augmenting the hospital’s service delivery framework.
“This collaboration with Afya Check Foundation will enable us to amplify the availability of critical medical services to communities both proximate and remote by advancing medical tourism,” he remarked.

Dr. Humba further highlighted that substantial governmental investment in the health sector positions BMH to project its medical expertise onto an international stage, particularly targeting regions where its presence remains nascent.
This will, in turn, attract patients from across borders to seek care at the hospital’s state-of-the-art facility located on the periphery of Dodoma.

Representing Afya Check Foundation, Dr. Isaac Maro acknowledged the organization’s longstanding commitment to advancing health initiatives nationwide since 2009.
He lauded BMH’s exemplary healthcare provision and emphasized the imperative of scaling educational and informational outreach to encompass a broader Tanzanian and international demographic.
“Our objective is to collaborate closely with BMH to intensify fundraising efforts that will extend our reach to disadvantaged Tanzanians lacking sufficient resources.

We will spearhead campaigns aimed at mobilizing support from stakeholders dedicated to enhancing health services for the populace,” Dr. Maro affirmed.
