DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’s apiculture sector has achieved a significant international milestone with the signing of a major export contract valued at $240,000.
Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd, operating under the brand name JAMBO ASALI, has finalized an agreement to supply 240 metric tons of beeswax annually to a leading Lithuanian firm, a key gateway to the European Union market.
The contract, set to commence in January 2026 and run through March of that year, marks a strategic expansion for Tanzanian bee products into the high-value European market.
The Lithuanian partner, recognized as one of Europe’s largest and most respected beekeeping enterprises, will utilize the beeswax for distribution across various EU industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, candle manufacturing, and food processing.

Briefing the publication over the development, CEO Mr. Musiba Paul Kitema, the Chief Excetive Officer (CEO) of the Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd stated that the deal underscores the growing international confidence in the purity and consistent quality of Tanzanian bee products.
“This partnership not only elevates Tanzanian beeswax onto a larger international platform but also demonstrates the EU’s growing trust in our standards,” Mr Kitema noted.
He added, a high-level delegation is expected to visit the country in the coming months to explore opportunities in sourcing medicinal-grade honey and investing in local processing infrastructure.
The Lithuanian company, praised for its expertise in bee science and robust supply chain, has also expressed strong interest in expanding its investment footprint in Tanzania.
“This agreement builds on the rising profile of Tanzanian honey in the EU, valued for its unique floral sources, natural harvesting methods, and adherence to stringent quality and safety regulations,” he informed.
Beeswax, once considered a byproduct, is now increasingly sought after for its applications in health, wellness, and multiple industrial sectors.
As a pioneer in the field, JAMBO ASALI supports over 2,000 smallholder beekeepers across regions like Tabora, Kigoma, Katavi, and Singida through training, modern equipment, and guaranteed market access.
The company operates certified processing centers in Kibondo and Sikonge, which ensure products meet international export standards.
“We believe that rural economic empowerment and environmental stewardship go hand in hand,” Mr. Kitema said, added: “By connecting Tanzanian beekeepers to high-value export markets, we’re not just exporting products—we’re exporting impact.
The contract signals a promising outlook for Tanzania’s apiculture sector, positioning the country as a competitive supplier of premium, ethically sourced bee products in the global marketplace.
