DODOMA. A RANGE of local tennis stakeholders over the weekend convened in Dodoma to grace the launching of the country’s grand investment in key sport genre, installed in the nation’s capital.
The launched investment which focuses to boost the performance of tennis sport in Tanzania include opening of two ultra- modern tennis courts, and other relevant facilities.
Initiated by Katoto Sports Academy (KSA) through its tennis flagship program, Katoto Tennis Academy (KTA), the investment eyes to train more players, especially the children, to involved in the racket sport, as well as the adult players.
The breath-taking event, staged at Njedengwa investment area on the outskirts of Dodoma Capital City featured a special tournament for children, the championship which attracted over fifty young tennis talents from different regions.
The regions include Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Arusha and the host Dodoma.

In his brief remarks to grace the event, the Tanzania’s prominent tennis stakeholder, Mr Nadim Aziz Yusufu, hailed the Dodoma- based Academy for initiating the vital investment
“Experience in the local sports scene shows that most of stakeholders are willing to inject lucrative sponsorship towards football, and other very few games, but not tennis,” he said.
He noted, because of this imbalance in supports, Tanzania has only a limited number of tennis courts, based in Arusha, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, and now Dodoma, the situation which dilutes broader efforts to boost performance of the game.
“I appeal to all sports stakeholders to chip- in and start supporting tennis” he urged.
Apart from hailing Katoto Sport Academy for the initiative, Mr Yusufu challenged the stakeholders in the country’s sport sector to follow the academy’s good example.
On his side, the coordinator of operations at Katoto Sport Academy, Mr Paul Ingavi said apart from tennis the investment will incorporate installation of key infrastructures for more games.
The games, according to him, include volleyball, basketball, table tennis, swimming, pool table and taekwondo, to mention but a few.
He briefed, works for the erection of the key infrastructure is at good stages, expecting to be completed in a near future.

“Our vision is to erect an equipped sports hub with modern facilities to facilitate training and tournaments of all sports played in the country,” Mr Ingavi detailed.
Upon it completion, he said the center will be installed with modern cafeterias, coffee lounges, free internet services, and best fresh food and soft drinks.
“This area will offer a unique sports tourism experience. Visitors will enjoy meals prepared under our motto, “from farm to the table” as we’re planning to invest highly in chickens, rabbits, turkey and fish farming,” he added.
Alongside the children’s tournament, the opening of the investment also saw the best competitions among adult recreational players, most of them parents of the young participants, whereby the children’s winners walked away with trophies, while adults winners received cash prizes.
